Past conferences

ICSOS2024 Chennai, India (9 - 11 September, 2024)
This year, there were 41 presentations from various parts of the world, including China, Estonia, Canada, Australia, India, and the UK. The conference featured 5 keynote lectures and 2 invited lectures. The presentations covered a wide range of topics related to ships and offshore structures, fostering engaging cross-disciplinary discussions. The conference was held in hybrid mode, with four keynote addresses and seven papers presented online (virtually). We would like to thank all participants and our keynote speakers for making this year’s conference a successful and fruitful event.

ICSOS2023 Yantai, China (24 - 28 September, 2023)
This year there were 51 presentations from many different parts of the world including China, South Korea, Malaysia, Croatia, India, and the UK. The presentations covered a wide range of topics related to ships and offshore structures and allowed for very interesting cross-discipline discussions. Two parallel sessions were arranged due to the large number of presentations. In addition to on-site sessions, a virtual session including six presentations was also arranged due to traveling issues of some participants. We would like to thank all participants and our keynote speakers making this year’s conference a successful and fruitful event.

ICSOS2022 Ålesund, Norway (17 - 18 October, 2022)
This year there were 22 presentations.
ICSOS2021 Hamburg, Germany [online only] (6 - 8 September, 2021)
This year there were 37 presentations from many different parts of the world including Canada, Germany, South Korea, Norway, Japan, Portugal, Croatia, Greece, Sweden, France, Finnland, Egypt, Malaysia and the UK. The presentations covered a wide range of topics related to ships and offshore structures and allowed for very interesting cross-discipline discussions due to the single-track presentation scheme. Because of COVID-10, the format was virtual with live presentations and discussions. We would like to thank all participants and our keynote speakers making this years conference a successful and fruitful event.

ICSOS2020 Glasgow, UK (1 - 3 September, 2020)
This year there were 52 presentations from many different parts of the world including Germany, South Korea, China, France, Croatia, Norway, Turkey, Sweden, Russia, Netherlands, Estonia, Greece and UK who joined the 4-day conference which was organized by University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. Presentations focused on a wide variety of topics related to ships and offshore structures including ship strength, ship motion, ice mechanics, subsea, collision & grounding of ships, fluid structure interactions, computational fluid dynamics, and offshore renewable energy. Approximately 150 people registered for the conference. We hosted some of the world’s leading researchers in the area of ships and offshore structures who delivered keynote lectures and technical presentations. The conference was also a great opportunity for young researchers to meet with these world-leading researchers and discuss their research. This year, ICSOS conference also hosted “TrAM Workshop” with a particular focus on design and construction of electric vessels.  Because of the travel limitations due to Covid-19 pandemic, the format of the conference was in virtual format for the first time. We are very pleased to receive positive feedback from the participants about the virtual format of the conference. We would like to thank the local organizing committee for their tremendous support for the success of the conference including Profs. Dracos Vassalos, Evangelos Boulougouris, Gerasimos Theotokatos, Selda Oterkus and Athanasios Kolios at University of Strathclyde.

ICSOS2019 Melbourne, Florida, USA (4 - 8 November, 2019)
Below is the group photo of participants who attended the 2019 International Conference on Ships and Offshore Structures (ICSOS 2018) onboard Carnival Liberty cruising to the Bahamas and back from Florida.
In total 32 registered attendees participated in the conference onboard the cruise ship enjoying the high quality presentations and scientific discussions.

ICSOS2018 Gothenburg, Sweden (17 - 19 September, 2018)
Below is the group photo of participants who attended the 2018 International Conference on Ships and Offshore Structures (ICSOS 2018) in Gothenburg, Sweden.
In total 67 registered attendees participated in the conference enjoying the high quality presentations and scientific discussions. The participants listened to 3 keynote lectures that addressed the topic “sustainability”, followed by presentations of 47 full-length papers.
